Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
want to see my children
I have joint custody of my kids, I am in the military and don't live in the same state and my children. I am now living with my girlfriend of three years, less than three hrs away from my kids. My x-wife won't allow me to see or talk to my kids, because I have a girlfriend. How do I get visitations on paper that she has to abide by? My kids are 12 and 18.

You will have to file a motion with the Court to enforce your rights.

As Mr. Moore said, you have to file a motion with the court. However, your 18 year old is an adult so the child can do whatever he or she wants. The motion will only apply to the 12 year old. I suggest you at least speak with an attorney before you do anything. You should think about hiring one too, especially because it shouldn't be too expensive.

If your joint custody is through a court order then why not bring the matter of visitation to the court.
Since one of your children is 18, you do not need an order to see this child.
