Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

My children's biological father and I never married. We use to have a mutually agreeable visitation but 6 years ago he stopped showing up. My children have not seen him or heard from him in over 6 years. His family does not contact them either. Will a judge in NJ grant him visitation after 6 years of not seeing them? My youngest doesn't even remeber him?

It is possible he may get some visitation, but you may want it to be something called "therapeutic visitation" to help build a relationship. He certainly should not get overnights from the start. If you would like more information, please contact my office at 732-663-1500.

Thank you.

Visitation will almost certainly be given; however, it may very well be supervised and/or limited at first. Depending on the circumstances, that could continue for quite some time. Is there a Motion pending? What the Judge may allow may depend on what the father is asking for and certainly will depend on many many factors that have not been given in your question.
