Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Civil Restraining Order

Where can I find a form for a Civil Restraining Order? The other party in question is agreeing to sign one if my lawyer draws one up. I'd prefer to do it myself, if possible. Thank you.

Re: Civil Restraining Order

With all due respect, the reason one hires a lawyer is because one does not know how to do it. You hire a lawyer for his/her expertise. Would you do your own surgery? Likewise, why would you try to do something that is so important as a Restraining Order. To specifically answer your question, I am not aware of a form that would be available for general distribution and, in any case, people who use forms, in any situation, sometimes run into problems because it is a rare situation where "one size fits all". Keep in mind that this advice is based purely on the little bit of information that you have given to me. There certainly may be other factors that would change my opinion. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. Since it appears that you have an attorney, I would suggest that you have him/her draft same. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
