Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
College & Child Support
Should the non-custodial parent be responsible to pay the full child support and perhaps 1/2 of college room and board? Should it just be tuition or should the months away from home the child support gets dratically reduced or suspended?

Re: College & Child Support
Both parents have an obligation to pay for college, including room and board, to the extent that each is able. Room and board is a form of child support and consequently the child support paid to the custodial parent is reduce to cover that part of the year that the child is at home
and not attending college. It is also taken into consideration is maintaining a residential space for the child while he or she is away in college.

There are a lot of factors, each parent's income, expenses (to some degree), college loans available.
You really need to get some assistance from an attorney. I suggest you find an experienced divorce attorney (this is a divorce type problem) who is not too far from you, and ask the attorney for assistance. You will have to pay the attorney for the attorney's efforts.
There is a lot at stake. Get a lawyer!

Re: College & Child Support
You should only pay child support for those periods of time where the child is actually at home.
