Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Per the court decision, I have been to a mediator with my ex husband with no resolution. And now I have been directed to a parent coordinator to assist in resolving issues that the court did not make final decisions on. My ex husband is not one to negociate. He is a lawyer himself and has been stretching out every issue to cost me money. He represents himself so there is no cost to him. I do not understand how a parent coordinator is going to resolve anything if he is unwilling to bend on any issue. How will this play out ?

Hi,
If you have an attorney, these questions should be directed to your attorney. It is difficult to give guidance with the limited information provided in your question. However, it depends on the authority given to the Parent Coordinator, and what the Order states that appointed the Parent Coordinator. Typically, the Parent Coordinator can report to the Court and their recommendations can be used by the Court. It is different from a because the communications to the Parent Coordinator are admissable in court, the counsellor's are not.
