Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Just got creamed in court over lies

I am a single dad paying 384.00 per week in support. I moved to Fl for a better life. However it is not so easy here. I make $600.00 per week. I keep getting hit with COLAS. Ex lied about not getting her pymnts, not requeting increases, having several address, not having insurance on my daughter. Provided all info to the court. She did not have money to send my daughter to Florida, however hired a lawyer to grant yet another COLA (3 within 4 months) Even had me followed and verified I was working at a company that I am not. Her lawyer gave me 5 days to dispute. No time. Yet another increase and all her legal fees within 10 days. I will struggle for my children til the day I die, however the lies are driving me crazy. It is now the principal of it. Is there anyting I can do. I borrowed 500.00 for a NJ lawyer to only look at my case. Cannot guarantee anything. There must be something I can do to at least disprove her in the courts eyes. I just cannot comprehend how out of all the dead beats fathers they pick on the ones that are willing to pay.

Re: Just got creamed in court over lies

The courts are a place where people do battle with each other for various purposes. It is not a perfect institution; sometimes you have to fight back just as you would if a mugger attacked you.

Apparently, the mother wants the money AND most of her child's time so she has taken a tack designed to achieve this goal. You will have to be strong and patient; usually the men who find themselves in this situation develop a "Why me?"

approach and are simply outworked and outfought by this sort of person.

What you need to do is to demonstrate to the Court that she has played fast and loose over and over again and ask for sanctions against her

and attorney's fees.

Of course, you are at a severe disadvantage because the court you have to deal with is far away and your every day life is demanding.

May God bless you.
