Custody of grandson

I am the maturnal gradmother of a 2yr old boy! Parents were never married. My daughter and grandson lived with me from Nov. 1999 till August 2000. Then I was called by mother, to come to WA. state to pick up grandson as mother was in jail. As to this date Jan. 02 I have tryed to get a medical form from her also tempory custody, till she gets help with herion problem which she has had since leaving my home, in August 2000. Where can I go from here? Have contacted, father and he is sending papers needed will they be enough?

Thank You.

P.S. I have grandson, daughters and my birth certificets

Re: Custody of grandson

It's hard to say whether the documents will be sufficient without looking at them. However, in any case, you will probably want a Court Order establishing your guardianship. There are documents that will need to be filed and a home investigation. Thereafter, an Order of Guardianship would be issued by the Court. Keep in mind that this advice is based purely on the little bit of information that you have given to me. There certainly may be other factors that would change my opinion. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. Since it appears that you have not retained an attorney, before you take any further action, you should contact an attorney (either me or someone else) to discuss your matter in more detail. Only then will you be able to rely on the advice. I will be happy to assist you. However, you need to call me at 856-546-8010. Good luck! Rob
