I know someone that would like to get out of a marriage but does not want to leave his son. Is there any way he could receive custody of his son and give visitations to the mother? I know in the state of NJ that the courts go with givng custody with the mother more so than to the fater, is this true?

I disagree with your assumption that courts generally go with the mother in custody situations. Custody determinations are always made in the best interest of the child. How that is resolved is different in every situation. Keep in mind that this advice is based purely on the little bit of information that you have given to me.
