Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

distribution of property

I have been married for five years. I owned my home prior to the marriage. Would my husband be entitled to any property settlement regarding my home?

Re: distribution of property

Thank you for your inquiry.

While I do not believe he can make a claim for one-half of the equity contained within the marital home, he may be able to seek certain funds. However, if I learn more facts, I believe that I would be able to formulate an equitable argument to protect this major asset.

As it would be my pleasure to speak to you regarding your potential divorce, please feel free to contact my office at 732 246 0909 to discuss same.

Very truly yours,

If you did not change title, generally not, but the specific facts of your situation would have to be reveiewed by counsel.
