Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Divorce Agreement Modification

I was divorced two years ago. In our agreement which was signed off by a judge and both attourneys, it states that I shall pay alimony in the amount of $200.00 per week for a period of 12 years commencing on 10/30/00. My ex is now co-habitating and is engaged. My lawyer did not put in anything regardin modification of alimony for co-habitation or remarriage. Can I ask for a change of circumstances and if so, do I have a chance in either reducing or eliminating alimony payments? Or am I stuck with what was agreed to in the Divorce agreement? Her fiance makes about the same money I do and contributes to the household.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Even though your previous attorney failed to include the termination language regarding alimony, I definately believe that I can help you terminate or, at least, reduce your alimony obligation.
