Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

if you get a divorce and are awarded 25% (from the courts) of your ex.'s pension and he pass away are you still entitled to your share of the penison. He was a Federal postal worker for 20 yrs. He left the post office because he was sick but did not collect any pension because he was to young????
