Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Divorce husband in another country

I have been married for the past 2 years and my husband has recently left the country to reside in his birth country. I am seeking a divorce from him, I don't know what part of his country he is in or how to contact him. What would be the easiest and cheapest way to do this? What would the grounds be for this, disertion? Would this fall under an annulment? Please advise.

Re: Divorce husband in another country

Causes of action for divorce are fact specific. In New Jersey in order to file for divorce based upon desertion there is a 12 month waiting period. There is an 18 month waiting period of separation. You may have a cause of action based upon extreme cruelty or some other. The causes of action for annulment are very different. However, the facts of your case would have to be more closely examined. If you would like to further discuss this issue, please feel free to contact my secretary Debbie at 856-795-6700 to schedule a consultation with me.
