Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

divorce .

I don't want a divorce but my husband does. We have only been seperated for a week. Can I make him go to couciling first.

You can request him to go to counselling but unfortunately, you cannot "make" him go.

Unfortunately you can not make you husband go to counseling.

In this state, and most others, if one person in the marriage wants a divorce the courts will accommodate that desire.

The courts are not in the business of forcing people to remain in a marriage they do not want to be in.
