Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Divorce papers state that ex-husband is responsible for 1/2 of son's college tuition, room & board, etc. (Son recently began this Sept.) No contact with ex in 10 years but recently found out his whereabouts -- how do I get him to comply with terms of divorce?

You should file a motion with the court which issued the divorce judgment requesting that he be compelled to pay one half of son's tuition and that failing same that a warrant issued, on two weeks notice, for the arrest of your son's father. I assume the father is still in New Jersey. If he is outside of New Jersey you can begin an enforcement action in the locall Family Part under

the interstate compact as to to support and it will be enforced in the state where the father resides.

Call me if you like.

You ask him in writing, immediately; the letter you send should be carefully written.

Then, you file a motion asking the Court to force him to comply with the divorce judgment.

A lawyer can help a great deal.

And there is a LOT of money to pay for college.
