Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I am in divorce proceedings in New Jersey. There was a DV incident that ultimately was dismissed and we entered into civil restraints. My attorney is telling me that because of the civil restraints, mediation is not a legal option for me. Can someone confirm this? Because a friend of mine told me this wasn't the case, and if so, I clearly need a new attorney.

If both parties agree, mediation can occur. The civil restraints were entered into as an agreement voluntarily by Consent Order and accordingly, any other voluntary agreement can also be entered into. If one parties does not want to mediate, however, it cannot be forced.

Keep in mind that this answer is given based on the scanty information you have provided. My answer may change based on other information. Further, you cannot rely on this answer since you have not retained me as your attorney. To be sure that you have accurate information and direction, you should consult with an attorney. Good luck.
