Divorce Proceedings in NJ

I have been married for 3 years and husband I and have decided to divorce as things have not beeen working out with us since Oct. 2006. What is the law in NJ? How long for a seperation? Do I need an attorney? Where do I file for seperation?

The seperation needs to be 6 months, but there are other causes of action available. Do you NEED an attorney? That depends. You CAN go to court without one, but if you have anything at stake, i.e. money, house, cars, children, etc then you really should at least meet with one.

New Jersey now has "irreconcilable differences" as a ground for divorce. That is what the two of you seem to have.
