Re: divorcing my husband

If you are thinking about filing for divorce, I would be happy to provide a free consulation. New Jersey now has a no fault divorce for irreconciable differences, and once we file we can ask for support, equitable distribution, etc.

I am not sure what you describe above rises to the level of a criminal act, but it sounds like you should take immediate steps to protect yourself and your family.

I would be happy to follow up with you. Please email me directly or call my office if you would like to schedule an appointment either in person or by telephone. My contact information is listed in the links below.

Re: divorcing my husband

You have the same rights that you would have in a divorce based on different conduct. If you are the dependent spouse, you get permanent spousal support. You also get child support for dependent children residingt with you. You also get half of the marital assets acquired from the date of the marriage ceremony and the date of the filing of the complaint for divorce and half of the marital debts.

You should remember that if you put your husband in jail he will be unable to provide financial support.

Try to put him jail if you like, but understand there may be unfavorable consequences.

You should also find a way to independently confirm what you child has told you before you go off into uncharted territory.

Call me if you like.
