Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
DYFS Investigation
DYFS was investigating my ex, and
contacted me to interview the
children (I have custody). Then it
seemed that they were investigating
me. Do I have a right to legal
representation during the
investigative process ? If I advise
them that I am seeking council and
in fact get it and provide them that
(Attorney contact) information
should all future contact
be made through the attorney or can
they still contact me directly. I have
nothing to hide but DYFS is a scary
intimidating agency. And they have
broad powers that seem to go
unchecked.
