Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
How do you emancipate a child from child support?
My friends step daughter is 19 years old and went to 3 months of college and dropped out.
She is currently living at home with her mother and just had a child 1 month ago and has no plans to return back to school.
Mother is receiving child support for this child. Child does not follow the guidelines for support.
Please provide some advise on how to proceed.
Father is currently living in Texas. Child is living with mother in New Jersey. Please advise how to emancipate child via Attorney generals office. Is there any forms that you can provide without hiring an attorney? Appreciate all your help with this matter.

The easiest way is to retain an attorney in NJ to file a Motion to Modify Child Support. If the daughter is over 18 and not attending an institution of higher learning as required by the order, then no child support is owed.
