Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
WHAT Am I Entitled to
Husband filed for divorce for following reasons:said I left him 3 times and returned home, went to VA. under pretense of vaction, and I made various allegations against him which effects him in the community & church because he is a Christian. Yes, I left 3x's- once to get away from him because of the way he treated me and because he wasn't paying his bills on time but was giving the church every wk.l $125.00 and we had our water and electricity turned of several times. I did go to VA. and told him I was and said I was getting a job while I was down there because I did not want to be on my aunt&uncle without giving them something towards the household. I decided to stay for one yr. after learning the job would send me to school for free. I need 48 credits to work in NJ in a public school now and I donot have them. So, I thought he would be happpy I stayed for a while (less than 2mos) and returned by this time he wanted a divorce, lastly I accused him of having an affair because his cell phone bills shows him calling a woman from the church numerous times of the day, morning and nights. He leaves out saying he is going to the store only to return 2-3hrs. later. When I asked what took him so long he gets upset. What am I entitled to?

You need to meet with an attorney, and decide what you wish to do.
Re: WHAT Am I Entitled to
The information you have provided is not nearly enough to make a determination as to what would be fair and equitable in your case. For instance, you spend alot of time telling us why you left. This is important only to establish that you have the right to get a divorce; it does not help us determine any amount you may be entitled to receive by way of child support, alimony, equitable distribution or any other financial issue. Only by meeting with an attorney can any of that be determined. Keep in mind that this advice is based purely on the little bit of information that you have given to me. There certainly may be other factors that would change my opinion. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. Since it appears that you have not retained an attorney, you may want to contact a divorce attorney in New Jersey, from your geographic area,(either me or someone else) to discuss your matter in more detail. Only then will you be able to rely on the advice. If you call me, mention Law Guru and your first one hour consultation will be free. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
