Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
equitable distribution
My husband owned a home prior to our marriage. I was subsequently placed on the mortgage and deed, contributed equally, and made several capital improvements. Am i entitled to half the house or half the increased value during the marriage?

Most likely the answer is yes, you can get a portion of the value of the house. You will need to have an attorney review this for you to get a definite answer.

Based on the information you provided, you will be entitled to a share of the house. I cannot say it will be one-half because your entire situation must be reviewed in greater detail, so please make sure you retain an attorney. If you like, you can contact me for a free initial consultation.
