establishing custody
What are the requirements to be granted legal custody of a minor child in NJ. The mother abandoned us and has contributed less then 5 hours of her time and no money at all towards the upbringing of our 6 year old daughter past 20 days

A custody complaint must be filed with the Family Part of the Superior
Court of New Jersey in the County Courthouse in your county. You should hire an attorney.

As Mr. Moore said, you need to file a motion with the court. Contact an attorney or legal services if you cannot afford one.
