Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Can ex-wife prevent daughters presence at carribean wedding?

I have been divorced 5 years. I have my 9 yr old daughter every other weekend and weds. I also have her 5 weeks out of the summer. My wife recently remarried.

I have met someone and we planned on having a destination wedding on a cruise ship to the carribean. Can my ex-wife stop my from doing this? She has taken my daughter to florida, hawaii, virginia, etc. Her arguement is that it is not as safe because it is outside of the united states, however I feel she is doing this to sabotage my new relationship. she has a huge fear that my new wife will take precedent over my daugther. She has repeated made comments about the fact I might decide to have another child. Is there anything I can do to enable my daughter to come to the wedding.

You cannot remove your child out of State unless it is specified in an order somewhere. Thus, although she has gone to other states, you could have stopped her. You would need to file a motion if she doesn't consent. I doubt this is something you'll want a lawyer for, but if you think otherwise, feel free to call me 732/247/3340.
