Do I need to see an attorney to choose a guardian for my child or can I write something up myself and have it notarized?

Re: Family Law

A guardian is someone appointed by a judge. You can give a power of attorney to temporarily deal with a situation where you will be away and someone who is not a parent has your child. You should consult with an attorney.

As Mr. Moore said, you might want to see an attorney. Not sure if you'll need to hire one, but you should make sure you are doing this right.
