Father leaving state

Right now my husband and I have joint legal custody can I ask for sole custody if he is leaving the state of NJ to go to FL? He does not plan on coming back to NJ at all. Please help

Yes, of course. You stand a good chance too because it is not easy for someone to move the child to another state. While many people handle such matters without an attorney, I would recommend it because this type of matter can get complicated as there are various legal factors that are in play here.

If you have primary residential custody he can leave the state permanently, without the child, but by moving he will make it necessary to

reduce his visitation.
