Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I am a father from NJ attempting to register an NJ support order for custody/visitation in Georgia. Do custody orders(non-matrimonial) have to be domesticated or is the process for divorce judgments?

You are attempting to docket a foreign judgment in Georgia. You must provide the Georgia autorities with either a certifed or authenticated copy of the judgment. You should call and ask which they require.

A certified judgment is simply empressed with a gold seal and a signed statement of a court clerk that the judgment or order is a true copy of same filed with the court in New Jersey. An authenticaled copy of an order or judgment is one signe as being a true copy of the judgment or order filed with the court AND a judge certifies the the court clerk is a court clerk and the court clerk certifies that the judge is a judge.
