Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
I may have fathered a child over 15 years ago
the woman is now seeking child support. i haven't seen or spoken to this woman in over 15 years or had any contact with the child. there has never been a court order to pay support or a paternity test to establish if I'm the father. What are my options? Will I be olbligated to pay?

If you are petitioned, then you can request a DNA to establish paternity. If it is your child, then yes you will be directed topay support.

If paternity is proven you will have to pay child support going forward, not going backward, in time.
A paternity test, using dna, is required to prove paternity and it will be order if it appears to the Court that you could be the father.
Call me if you like.
