Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
What can i do to fight a voluntary custody turned nasty
a while back my now wife and her ex boyfriend separated. he had sighned over all rights to the child that they had had together. while she was single and trying to be a mom she had trouble keeping a job and an apartment for a while. the child was taken to the father for babysitting and he in turn gave her to his mother. the mother offered in good faith to take care of the child until she was able to better support the child. there was an agreement made in the court that stated that the paternal grandmother would get primary residance and decision making and my wife who was 18 at the time agreed. the terms for visitation were not set in stone and read ''as long as both parties agree''.
the custody split was to be only until my wife was stable. after the grandmother found out that she was getting married she has stopped visitation and is suing for full custody on the grounds of instability in the home. all of the lawyers we have spoken to will represent us but want 1000 up front. and we are afraid of what will happen if we go to court without representation. after just making a home for katie(our daughter) we have no money left trying to keep this place so that we can have a good place for her to live. what can we do?

I suggest you contact your local county Bar Association for a referral OR contact Legal Services. Additionally, you can ask the Court to appoint a pro bono attorney. Good Luck.
