Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Hi I had to file a motion on serious issues happening. I found a Lawyer & paid. I gave papers Evidence etc. It's been 7 weeks now. No motion is filed. I see half my retainer is used but don't get for what. It is not filed yet. Is this normal as I been through motions before & it didn't take this long. I feel these issues are serious so been a very difficult time plus to wait for the lawyer. Thank you
