Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
forfieting parental rights
I want to know what the length of time is for a father to lose parental rights if he hasn't paid child support ever or seen the child befroe. And does making a phone call once on a while qualify for invovement?

Re: parental
It seems to me that you have already forfeited your parental rights. At least that seems to me to be the position that your child would take. Do you think that your child would consider you to be his father (and be involved in his life) when you only call him once in a while? And what kind of a man would be concerned with his own parental rights when he cannot even come up with a dollar to pay for the support of his child? I guess you can tell that I am not too impressed with your concern for parental "rights" when you are apparently doing nothing to act like a parent. If there are other facts that have made me misjudge your situation, I apologize. On the other hand, I would suggest you take a good hard look at what you are doing and do what is right for the benefit of your child.
