Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
My gf and I are splitting up after 5 years. We have a 3 year old son. I am very involved in his life. I have ben the sole support for both of them since he was born as she does not work. She has not contributed one dime to his support since he was born. She said she is taking him and moving in with her sister. What are my rights. What is the first thing I have to do to get 50/50 custody of him after she leaves. Can I make her leave my son with me when she leaves.

You need to meet with an attorney as soon as possible. Please schedule an appointment with my office so we can discuss your rights and how you should move forward.
You must seek custody of the child in court. Call me lif you like.
An application needs to be immediately filed with the Court to establish your custodial rights. You should waste no time in doing this. You need to meet with an attorney to protect your rights in this regard.
Keep in mind that this advice is based purely on the little bit of information that you have given to me. There certainly may be other factors that would change my opinion. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. Since it appears that you have not retained an attorney, you should immediately contact a Family Law attorney (either me or someone else) to discuss your matter in more detail. Only then will you be able to rely on the advice. If you call me at 856-546-8010, mention Law Guru and your first one hour consultation will be free. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
