Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Gramdparents visitation rights

I am a 63 yr. old grandmother who wants to see the two grandchildren she raised for over 6 yrs. I got their mother and them away from an abusive man. I took care of them physically and financially. They lived with me.My daughter remarried to a controlling man and now they won't let me see the children who want to see me but are scared.

What are my rights. I suffered great financial hardship to raise them and have done nothing wrong. The children are not happy. Do I stand a chance to see them. Now I have to incur additional expense to get an attorney.

Re: Grandparents visitation rights

Grandparents have rights independent of parental rights in NJ. The history of custody and caregiving you describe is highly relevant and positive as far as your claim is concerned.
