Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Grand Parent rights?

My mother and I have not been speaking to each other for a few months. I've been served with a summons to appear in court for her to get visitation with my 2yr old daughter. I DO NOT want my child to have to visit with her. She is known to talk badly about me and my husband to her. What are the chances of her getting visitation rights?

Re: Grand Parent rights?

You will need to hire an attorney to fight this. The judge will do what is in the best interests of the child in most grandparent visitation cases. However, almost always one parent is missing, and that person's parents want the visitation. Where you and your mother can not get along, I do not know, without looking at the cases for a few minutes, whether she has any chance of success.

You definitely need to hire a lawyer.
