Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Guardianship
How can one be appointed guardian over a mentally disabled adult? This persons previous guardian was her mother who has recently passed away. I am the grandson of the deceased and would like to be appointed guardian, but currently reside in Florida. Would this be possible?

Re: Guardianship
yes. the application process is by a court action, asking the Judge to appoint you.
You will want to file the action in the court where the the mentally disabled adult lives.
If that adult lives in northern New Jersey, I can help you. If not, I may be able to put you in touch with one of my friends who can help you.
It will be difficult for you to do this from Florida without an attorney to help.
If you would like me to assist, please call my office. I am in Hackensack. You can then decide how you would like to proceed.
