Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Husband controls the finances

My husband has moved in with another woman and I want a divorce. He has always controlled the money (I am a stay at home Mom) and I have no funds to hire a lawyer. What are my options?

Re: Husband controls the finances

There are ways to hire an attorney, alot of them have already been listed by the other attorneys( file a motion to get him to pay, credit cards, etc). However, make sure you contact an attorney in the county near where you live (this will keep you fees lower).

I would be happy to follow up with you. Please email me directly or call my office if you would like to schedule an appointment either in person or by telephone. My contact information is listed in the links below.

Re: Husband controls the finances

If you have access to a credit card, you have the ability to get an attorney. Then, with that attorney you can get access to the bank info.

If not, I suggest contacting legal services to at least file a motion to get control of the bank to get money for an attorney and then go from there.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.

Depending on your circumstances, an application can be made for pendente lite relief which would include an interim award of counsel fees (to be paid by him).

Speak with a lawyer to further evaluate your rights.

Re: Husband controls the finances

I have read what the other lawyers have written, and they are correct as far as they go.

You have kids. He is controlling the finances even while living with another woman. Nice. Very very nice.

You need a lawyer, absolutely. Most decent divorce attorneys will look over your situation and try to work out a way to handle the divorce.

If he has a job or you have a house, you are likely to be able to get someone to assist.

I would like to speak to you, IF you are in the northern part of New Jersey. Situations like yours always get my attention. You may feel that you are trapped, broke and unable to take action to help yourself and your child (children). Not so.

I will be happy to discuss this with you; the telephone consultation will be free. Just call my secretary Rosa, and she will get some basic info and then pass you over to me.

My contact information can be obtained from the links below, just click on the Attorney Profile link. Let my secretary know you found me through LawGuru.
