Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

My husband and I had sole custody of his daughter for the last 21/2 years. She had many problems and we had to send her to a therapuetic boarding school for one of those years. We never asked for child support nor did her mother help pay school tuition. My stepdaughter turned 18 and moved out of our house and and in with her mother. She recently got her GED and she and her mom bought a car. My husband agreed to pay $500/month for the car. My stepdaughter received a DWI only 2 monthes after getting the car and stopped payments to my stepdaughter for the car. Her mother now wants to take us to court for child support. My step daughter is now in beauty school fulltime. Can a new child support order be created given these circumstances. We live in NJ.

Yes, but I have no information about any prior support orders. Speak to an attorney before doing anything.
