Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

How to go about doing this

My husband starting using drugs and stole the rent money and left me and my kids out in the cold. I was left to go back and fourth to court with the landlord to try and keep a roof over of our heads. Then he did a crime and went to jail. Now it has been two years later and he is home. He is now living with a girlfriend, and living life to the fullest. Meanwhile, I am still faced with all kinds of bills that has now made my credit bad, because of all of the stealing. I did not know that everyday he was cleaning out our bank account. On what grounds could I file a divorce.

Re: Grounds for filing

Where do I start the list? Habitual drug abuse, incarceration, extreme cruelty, adultery, desertion, 18 month separation...All of these seem to apply. However, I do not think that is your real question. You have some substantial rights that need to be asserted, both on your own behalf and on behalf of your children. SEEK LEGAL HELP IMMEDIATELY! There certainly may be other factors that would change my opinion. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. Since it appears that you have not retained an attorney, before you take any further action, you should contact an attorney (either me or someone else) to discuss your matter in more detail. Only then will you be able to rely on the advice. I will be happy to assist you. However, you need to call me at 856-546-8010. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
