Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Inproper use of child support payments
i have a niece who is 19 years old and attending college. her father pays her mother child support for her each month. her mother refuses to give her a penny she says she uses it to live on. however my niece lives in an apt near her college, my sister has taken her bedroom away at home so when she does visit she sleeps on a couch. she gets absolutely no assistance from her mother. her aunts are helping her out. her father does contribute about 5000 towards her college tuition and of course the child support. the rest of her tutuion is grants etc she gets through finanical aid. Is she entitled to get access to the child suport her father is paying her mother to help her living expenses while she is away at college. If so how does she go about doing this. She of course is extremly stressed and is having a difficutlt time. SHe does work as a waitress when not in school to help with her expenses but it is not enough any advice would be apprecitate.

Re: Inproper use of child support payments
Issues like this are very troubling, where at the end of parenting, when the child is almost completely matured and almost ready to become a full adult, one or the other parent fails to give the child the last couple of years of assistance that is needed.
