Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

where are they

I have joint custody with my ex. He has moved from his house and it concerns me where my son is staying. He tells me its none of my business where they live and they will stay wherever he wants to stay. Doesnt he have to prove to me and to the court where he is living and that its a permanant residence?

Re: where are they

you have to make sure that your son is safe.

You need a lawyer.

That child needs to be in a decent apartment or house, and be safe.

You probably do not have a lot of money.

You still really, really, really, really need advice from a lawyer.

Scrape together the money to get some advice. Plan to make your time as useful to you as possible. Have a list of information for the attorney, including: your income and his/her income for the last 3 years; your major monthly expenses; a list of your assets (cars, bank accounts, house if any owned, pension plans, anything worth a significant amount of money); a list of your debts (how much still owed on the car, the house, credit card bills, mortgage if any, doctor bills, any other debts).

And have a list of specific things that you want the lawyer to give you advice about.

Be prepared to pay for the lawyer's time; it is how the lawyer pays for his/her own bills.

Call if you like; I never charge for a first phone call.

You can then decide how you would like to proceed.
