Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Judgement of Divorce

Divorced in 2002. One of the agreements was for me to keep a life insurance policy the cost being deducted from my pension and the ex-wife would reimburse the cost each month. I have not been reimbursed now in 6 months. The divorce was granted in New Jersey, I now live in Louisiana part time and out of the US part time and the ex lives in Texas. Do I need to go back to court so that I can cancel the insurance policy and would that be the court in New Jersey??

Re: Judgement of Divorce

The answer to both questions is yes. Is there an end date to the insurance coverage requirement? If so, is the cost of a court application worth it? If you do proceed, the Court probably will order her to reimburse you, rather than cancel the policy. You can ask to have the bills sent directly to her and for her to make direct payment, if that can be set up.

Back to Court in New Jersey, most likely. Enforce the agreement.
