Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Judicial Communication-UCCJEA
Quick question--
My ex will be taking our son to Kentucky on vacation for two weeks. I have custody in New Jersey. I believe he will file for temporary emergency custody. When he files the petition, will the courts in KY check for conflicting orders? Or should I be pre-emptive and notify them in advance?

One question is why you believe your ex will be doing this? If he made a direct threat, you should apply immediately to the NJ court that granted your divorce to restrain him from doing so. Once he gets to KY, it may take months to get your son back.
Re: Judicial Communication-UCCJEA
In order for Kentucy to obtain jurisdiction he would have to live in Kentucy with your son for six months. New Jersey would retain jurisdiction and if he did not return your son, you can file an order to show cause to have New Jersey order your son returned.
