Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Jurisdiction

I have been seperated for over 15 years, and do not know where my estranged husband is, I have no way of contacting/finding him. We were married and resided in NJ. I am now living in FL for the past 6 years. Is there a problem with my filing in FL for a divorce? We never lived in FL as man and wife.

Re: Jurisdiction

The answer to your question involves an interpretation of Florida law, not NJ law. However, I would think that you could file in Florida, notifying your ex of the action by mail to his last known address and by publication in a newspaper running in the County in which you last lived with him. However, you need to consult with a Florida matrimonial attorney to be sure you have the proper information. Good luck!
