Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Keeping my maiden name.

I would like to know if I can attach my maiden name to my married last name, separated by a hyphen without having to go to a lawyer and having it done through him/her.

Re: Keeping my maiden name.

hi - if it's done through a divorce judgment, you can ask the judge to grant you permisssion to add the maiden name at the time that the divorce is granted. otherwise, with or without a lawyer, you still have to follow the court rules and file a complaint to change your name, etc. it's simpler to do it with a lawyer. feel free to call me at 609 263-0089 if you have any other questions. good luck !!
