Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

dont know if i need a lawyer or not

i am about to give birth in 3weeks nd he father walked ou not to be heard from ill i just got a letter from his lawyer saying he wants to take responsibility,but wants to do it tru his lawyer. I want to go thru te family court. do i need a lawyer for court or can i rep. myself
