Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
should I leave country to avoid contested adoption
I adopted 2 infants from another state and have final decree but the local child protective services agency is contesting the decree in court based on my not submitting to the interstate compact requirements for out of state adoptions. (My lawyer did not feel it was necessary since ''hard to place'' children are not subject to this requirement and the judge was satisfied that they were hard to place) Would I be well advised to relocate in another country to avoid a possible revocation of my decree before it occurs? Would I be considered a fugitive from justice?

There is no way any attorney is going to tell you to leave the country and break the law. You just have to stick it out and fight it with everything you got.

Something could happen in court in you absence which might reverse your adoption of the children. Depending whether the country you, you might be forced to return the children to New Jersey if the country which you go to is a signatory to the Hague Convention.
