Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Life Endangerment
Good Morning. I have a younger sister who lives in N.J. and I fear for her life. She has no spouse or children. She has a drinking problem and has lost touch with reality. Is there a legal way for me; her brother to commit her to an institution for rehab ?

Re: Life Endangerment
the legal process for involuntary commitment requires medical experts who agree that she is in danger and unable to care for herself, basically.
not an easy situation. call me if you wish to hire an attorney to pursue this for you.
If you would like, give me a call; I am in Hackensack (northern New Jersey). I will be happy to discuss

Call the police and ask them to perform a welfare check on her. They can then call PESS if they agree with you.
