Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Her Life Insurance

My wife and I are presently separated for over 2 1/2 years and have decided to divorce. I have a life insurance policy on her for $100,000 that I have been paying since 1986. What should I do with this policy? Is it my decision as to what is done with it? Does it go into the divorce proceeding? Can I ''cash it in'' and receive the accumulated interest or what? I am really out in left field with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In a divorce all assets are distributed between the parties. You should not cancell her insurance

coverage without prior notice to her

Re: Her Life Insurance

This is one of the assets that must be divided in the divorce proceeding. Do not cancel or cash it until you hire a divorce attorney and get expert advice.
