Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

i live in a different state

my daughterrs grandmother has residential custody oh my daughter in new jersey I relocated to alabama and have been in my housde about 9 months w a great renters history and work history as well. What steps do I need to take and Will I have to go back to New Jersey.

You would have to file a motion for a change of custody which would include a motion for removal as well if you want to take the child to Alabama.
