Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Marraige for citizenship

If someone gets married for the sole purpose to sponsor someone for US Citizenship what are the implications? How can the one who is sponsoring protect himself or herself? Do you recommend some type of agreement be drawn up and would that agreement be binding?

Re: Marraige for citizenship

Getting married solely to stay in this country is illegal. The INS knows people do this, and questions those who marry american citizens to see if it is a "true marriage."
