Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Not Married with Child/House and Seperating

First, This is not a same sex issue. I am a male. My female partner and I have a 5 year old daughter and also bought a house together. She is the primary owner of the house and our daughter is under her health insurance. I spend the majority of time with our child and maintaining the house. What rights do I have if a seperation occurs?

I will have to accept your representation that she is the primary owner of the house. You may be wrong about your status because it is the language of the deed which establishes your entitlement.

You are entitled to seek custody of the child or not. Usually, to the degree it is practicable, the parents share the child's time equally. If one parent has primary residential custody the other pays child support.

I do not know what your arrangement with the mother was while things went well. Did she promise to provide you with support in exchange for your foregoing career development?

I am rather limited by the information in providing you with information.
